I'm considering using a free host which is all pre-set up for websites since its proving difficult so far, but that's going to make it a lot harder to transfer the website files from the forum to this development server.

Once I get the preperations all sorted, I will be able to start updating the forum properly, and I'll post a link here so you can all follow the development. :)

Good news :D

If you can, don't forget to work on what you know xd

SUCCESS! The initial setup is finally finished, took way longer than it should have done, but after a couple OS re-installs, and a lot of effort (and rage quits), i've finally managed to install an FTP, Apache Web server, mySQL database, phpBB 3.1 and all the little things that phpBB needs. You can see it set-up and ready for development here:

Can you believe that this little site is very similar to how our forum started out a long time ago?

Ok so unfortunately this project has been delayed a little bit since i'm using the server for a college project as well. So I have created a separate installation for the new phpBB 3.1.8 and will continue development on that. ;)

I've added a roadmap to help me keep track of what needs doing. It also allows you to see what I plan to do. If you have any suggestions, give them to me! :D

Also, i've managed to make a bit of progress on the new rebuild although it's happening bit by bit.

Updating the forum to a newer software standard is vital, IMO.

A modular system for the front page would be incredibly cool (but very tedious and... well, let's face it, not fun to **** around with such matters, but it would be incredible. I would like to have my Moderator control stuff right at the top, then the member discussions, etc. With the current format that's impossible, but using new software could maybe bring about this change.

It's a suggestion and obviously doesn't have to happen, but it would be cool.
